November’s Kickstarter Campaigns To Check Out

A new month means a new line up of Kickstarters to check out! Here are a list of crowdfunding projects that are related to tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) that are great to check out this November.

Please note that the descriptions below are taken from the product’s Kickstarter page and/or the company’s website.

Adventure Arcs Magazine (AAW Games)

One of the biggest challenges in creating a Dungeons & Dragons game (whether it’s a one-shot, adventure, or campaign) is getting inspiration on what to include and how to ensure they all connect. That’s where “Adventure Arcs” from AAW Games (creators of The Rise of Drow) comes in. The Adventure Arc will provide Game Masters (GMs) with a comprehensive toolkit of modular components compatible for 5e (2024), allowing for seamless integration into their campaigns or stand-alone play. This quarterly magazine will include building blocks such as ready-to-play pre-gen characters, soundtracks, monsters, detailed setting content, unique character backgrounds, magic items, spells, equipment, and much more. It will also include a short adventure that these items will tie into the overarching story or can be a one-shot as well.

Adventures In Teaching And Learning With TTRPGs (Tabletop EDU)

Many families and educators love incorporating gaming into learning. Tabletop EDU Nonprofit, a 501(c)(3) organization, is an organization that strives to provide resources and support to promote tabletop gaming experiences in education. Their first Kickstarter project, a resource book called “Adventures in Teaching and Learning With TTRPGs,” aims to provide essays, practical design resources, and engaging modules to give educators the tools they need to incorporate TTRPGs into their learning opportunities.

Fabled: Roleplaying Without Limits (Fabled)

If you’ve played a tabletop roleplaying game online before, you are probably familiar with the various online tools needed to play or game master: A virtual tabletop, digital character sheets and dice rollers, video/audio chats, maps, tokens, etc. Though there are a lot of these tools out there, very few has an all-in-one program that gives you everything you need reliably.

A company called Fabled is hoping to change that. Their program of the same name will provide all of the tools you need in one single, powerful program. You no longer need to rely on having multiple applications open to play a game. Used Discord to chat or have a video call to play? Do it in Fabled. Used Roll20 for your maps? You can do that in Fabled. Obsidian to create your world and campaign notes? Fabled. Not only will this program give you everything you need, their Kickstarter will allow you to lock in lifetime rates. I’ve also been really impressed with their Discord server in how much their team engages with their community, provides support, and listen to their feedback to integrate features in the future.

No Place Like Homebrew (Roll & Play Press)

If you’re familiar with the popular One Shot Wonders book by Roll & Play Press, then you are familiar with their popularity and quality of work. They are now planning to release a new book specifically to help game masters with their homebrew worlds and campaigns, entitled “No Place Like Homebrew.”

The book will provide inspiration and ideas for everything you need in your world game, such as expansive worlds & regions, deities & beings, immersive environments, settlements, buildings, locations, factions, creatures, foes, and NPCs. In addition, you can also opt to purchase physical assets from the books (e.g. photos, cards, tokens, etc.) as well as virtual ones for your online games.

If you’ve ever thought about creating a homebrew world or even just building a campaign inside an existing one like the Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk, this book is a great way to hel jumpstart your creativity and planning.

Mythic Carpathia & City of My Nightmares for the Vaesen RPG (Free League Publishing)

Free League Publishing, known for their tabletop roleplaying games such as Dragonbane, The One Ring, Alien, and Mork Borg, is planning to expand their 2020 award-winning horror TTRPG, Vaesen.

Mythic Carpathia takes players to face classic and new horrific creatures such as vampires, Baba Yaga, Rusalkas, and more inspired by eastern Europe folklore. Characters will be taken to European locations like Prague, Transylvania, and Ukraine as they work with the Pravda Society to explore these phenomens.

City Of My Nightmares is a four part campaign that starts off with the characters investigating murders in 19th century Stockholm, then spirals into a major conspiracy and chaos that threatens even the Pravda Society as an organization.

This Kickstarter campaign will also offer backers the option to purchase the Vaesen Starter Set, an updated Core Rulebook, and more.
